Berlin - Knick has bought from Bartec the patent rights to plug connections for contactless energy and data transfer, such as applied for intelligent electrochemical sensors. The patent family is based on the German patent DE 197 19 730 C1 and comprises the European patent EP 0 980 603 B1, the US patent US 6 476 520 B1, and the Japanese patent JP 3 137 341 B2. This technology enables inductive and thus contactless connection between sensor and measuring device without the disadvantage of contact-based connector systems which are susceptible to interference caused by humidity, pollution, or corrosion. With this purchase, Knick complements its development work in the field of contactless connector systems for electrochemical sensors (InduCon), which can now be supplemented with protective elements for hazardous-area/safe-area isolation and BUS capability.
